Tips for Creating a Professional Resume

Your resume's heading should contain your name, along with multiple contact methods.

A professional looking email address is of paramount importance.  If you are unsure whether your current one is suitable, simply create a new one.  It is free, after all.  Plus, with a clean mailbox you won't miss any job offers.  Don't forget to hyperlink your email address when sending online documents. Your resume's summary section is the place to add a personal touch.  Highlight your experience and information relevant to the position you are applying for.  Include previous responsibilities, plus present duties and skills.  This will prove your ability to do the job.

Your work history should be 10 years (if you have 10 years).  Your summary can include facts of your 10+ year career.

List previous work experience to show you are qualified for the position for which you are applying.

Include all licensing and certifications that you hold.  If you omit them, a Hiring Manager might assume you don't possess basic requirements for the position they are offering.

Last but not least, ALWAYS spell check your resume.  Most positions require attention to detail, so a resume with a typo could be an automatic disqualifier.
