Being on time to work seems to
be a simple concept. So then why
do one out of five people admit to
being late to work at least twice
weekly?
43% of managers surveyed say
they don’t mind if an employee is
late, as long as their work quality
remains good and is completed on
time. But what about co-workers
who are diligent about being on
time every day? Resentment may
naturally ensue, lending to a
hostile work environment. |
Some will debate that
subconsciously, people who are
late are just looking for an
opportunity to make a grand
entrance, while others believe
that it is passive-aggressive
behavior.
For whatever reason people are
chronically late, the solution is
to develop self-discipline and
make it a habit to be on time.
Scientific studies show that in
order for a habit to truly stick
with a person, they must
practice it for 21 consecutive
days.
It is never acceptable to be late
for a job interview, except in
the event of a true emergency.
In general, hiring managers
view candidates who arrive late
as lacking work ethic and selfdiscipline. |
